Qinglu: A Modern Residential House

Blending Chinese Aesthetics with Western Perception

The Qinglu residential house, designed by Haoling Yu, seamlessly integrates the artistic conception of Chinese classical aesthetics with modern Western aesthetic perception. With its unique design and attention to detail, Qinglu offers a harmonious and elegant living space that combines nature, fashion, and art.

In order to create a living space that harmonizes with the surrounding ecological environment, Haoling Yu embarked on a radical transformation of the original space. By removing the windows that were previously used extensively, natural light is now introduced, enhancing the indoor lighting and expanding the originally narrow space. This thoughtful approach ensures that each space within Qinglu is more rational and orderly, maximizing its functionality.

The living room, adorned with comfortable and simple furniture, maintains a color palette of gray and blue-green. The restrained and low-key gray, fresh and bright white, and calm and rational dark green blend together to create a balanced and harmonious beauty. The teahouse, on the other hand, exudes rich Eastern elements with its natural and plain wood color. Influenced by tea culture, it offers a serene and Zen-like atmosphere, where the fragrance of tea fills the air, and the sound of water in tea ware creates a tranquil ambiance.

Spanning across 700 square meters, Qinglu encompasses various spaces designed for leisure, entertainment, banquets, and more. The leisure hall, located beside the stairs, serves as a multifunctional area that caters to diverse lifestyles. The integration of space and the spiral staircase behind it creates a visually striking and fashionable artistic display, showcasing the perfect fusion of point, line, and surface.

The lobby of the stairwell has been expanded into an arc-shaped space, connecting the indoor and outdoor areas and allowing for more natural light to enter. This longitudinal extension creates a transparent and open vision, leaving a three-dimensional impression that is both captivating and inviting.

The Qinglu project, which began in December 2016 and was completed in December 2018 in Chengdu, was born out of a need to bridge the gap between the traditional American villa style of the LUSEHILLS international community and the modern lifestyle of the Chinese people. By infusing the space with elements of both Chinese and Western cultures, Haoling Yu has created a design that speaks to life and art, embodying simplicity and elegance.

Qinglu has been recognized for its exceptional design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase resourcefulness, technical skill, and a commitment to improving the quality of life. Haoling Yu's Qinglu is a testament to the power of design in creating a better world.
